The Millville BOE and Superintendent Tony Trongone are making plans to improve the athletic facilities at John Barbose Stadium at Wheaton Field.  Superintendent Trongone has presented his plan to the Board as well as presenting it to the Chamber of Commerce and on Jim Quinn’s Around the County show.  It will include new fencing around the entire complex, new ticket booth and entrance as well as a turf field that can be used by multiple sports.  With the new addition at the High School two fields were lost.  This will allow field hickey, soccer, lacrosse as well as football to be played.  Improvements would also include a new track.  Currently our track’s 6th lane runs directly into the home bleachers so that will be corrected by moving the bleachers back.

Also pictured is a field house that will include locker rooms and allow teams and the band  to practice inside. It will probably be located in the field behind the press box.

Our students deserve these improvements.  As they travel to games and see the facilities of their opponents it will be a big plus for our students to have the same opportunities.

The Thunderbolt Club is 100% supportive of these new facilities.
